Methodology
Urine analyser Strip and Microscopy
The Complete Urine Examination utilizes a two-part methodology to ensure a thorough analysis:
* Urine Analyser Strip (Dipstick): The urine sample is tested using a dipstick with chemically reactive pads. Each pad changes color in the presence of specific substances, allowing for the rapid detection of chemical components like proteins, glucose, blood, and nitrites.
* Microscopy: After centrifugation, the urine sediment is examined under a microscope by a trained pathologist. This allows for the direct visualization and enumeration of cellular components such as red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs)/pus cells, epithelial cells, casts, and crystals, providing crucial diagnostic information.
Sample Required
* URINE (25ML): A minimum of 25 milliliters of urine is required for the analysis. The sample must be a clean-catch mid-stream urine specimen, collected in a sterile, leak-proof container.
Preparation
