Methodology
PCR: 28+ genetic markers analyzed using PCR technology.
The Paternity DNA Test utilizes PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technology to analyze 28 or more specific genetic markers (loci). PCR is a molecular biology technique that amplifies minute amounts of DNA, allowing for a robust and accurate analysis of highly polymorphic regions (short tandem repeats or STRs) within the human genome. By comparing the unique genetic profiles derived from the alleged father and child, a statistical probability of paternity can be determined. The analysis of a large number of markers (28+) significantly increases the accuracy and reliability of the test, establishing whether the alleged father is the biological father.
Sample Required
Father & Child Blood Sample Collection in Special EDTA 3 ML - or Cheek Swabs (Mother Optional).
(A minimum of 3 mL of whole blood collected in a special EDTA vacutainer is required from both the alleged father and the child. Alternatively, buccal (cheek) swab samples can be collected. While the mother's sample is optional, providing it can enhance the statistical power and conclusiveness of the results, especially in complex cases.)
Preparation
