Methodology
NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing)
NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing), also known as massively parallel sequencing, is a powerful and high-throughput molecular diagnostic technology. For Imatinib Resistance Mutation Analysis (IRMA), NGS is used to comprehensively sequence the ABL kinase domain of the BCR/ABL fusion gene. Unlike traditional sequencing methods, NGS can simultaneously sequence millions of DNA fragments, allowing for the detection of known and novel mutations, even at very low allele frequencies. This is crucial for identifying mutations that confer resistance to Imatinib and other Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors (TKIs) in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) patients. NGS provides a highly sensitive, broad, and quantitative assessment of mutations within the ABL kinase domain.
Sample Required
WB/BMA EDTA Whole Blood (WB) or Bone Marrow Aspirate (BMA) in EDTA Vacutainer
(A sample of whole blood or bone marrow aspirate collected in an EDTA vacutainer is required for this test. EDTA acts as an anticoagulant to preserve the sample for DNA/RNA extraction and subsequent NGS analysis.)
Preparation
No specific preparation is typically required for this test. However, please adhere to the following: * No Fasting Required: Fasting is not necessary for this blood or bone marrow sample collection. *... Read more
